On September 14, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Sourwood Dr., Asheboro, in reference to an overdose. Upon arrival, several subjects were located around a truck parked in the yard. An unconscious subject, identified as Johnathan Alexander Macias, was located in the bed of the vehicle. The local fire department and Randolph County EMS responded to evaluate Macias. The caller and another male subject on scene, Eddie Alexander Brigman, Sr., advised that Macias had driven the vehicle to Sourwood Dr. and parked it in the yard. He had walked to another residence, where the overdose occurred. Brigman advised he drove the truck from where it was parked to pick up Macias. Macias was placed in the bed of the truck while Bridgman drove it back to the address on Sourwood where deputies were dispatched. Macias was found to have an outstanding order for arrest for failure to appear on felony charges, but was later transported to an area hospital for further treatment.
Communications advised that the vehicle had been reported stolen earlier in the day. An inventory of the vehicle was conducted prior to being towed. Items belonging to Macias were found inside the vehicle. Brigman was placed under arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause to issue a charge of Felony Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle. He was issued a $3,500 secured bond and a first appearance was set for September 16, 2022, in Randolph County District Court.
Charges were also sought against Macias for Felony Possession of Stolen Motor Vehicle and the magistrate found probable cause to issue the warrant. On September 20, 2022, Macias, currently confined at the Randolph County Detention Center on the outstanding order for arrest, was served the warrant. He was issued a $5,000 total secured bond and a first appearance was set for September 21, 2022, in Randolph County District Court.
