On September 23, 2022, a Randolph County Sheriff’s Deputy conducted a traffic stop on NC HWY 49 and Sheridan Drive. During a search of the vehicle, paraphernalia was located. During a search of the female passenger, who initially gave a false name and was later identified as Kimberly Nicole Hopkins, methamphetamine, cocaine and additional paraphernalia were located. She was placed under arrested.
The driver, Evan Lee Baker, was issued a citation for no insurance, driving left of center and fictitious tag. The tag was seized and Baker was released. Hopkins was transported to the magistrate’s office where she was officially identified. The magistrate found probable cause for charges of felony possession with intent to sell/deliver methamphetamine, felony possession of cocaine, misdemeanor possession of less than one half ounce of marijuana, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor possession of marijuana paraphernalia, and misdemeanor resist, obstruct and delay for providing a false name. Hopkins also had an order for arrest for felony probation violation from Cabarrus County. She was issued a $25,000 secured bond and a $40,000.00 bond for the probation violation. A first appearance was scheduled for September 23, 2022, in Randolph County District Court.
