On October 25, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Pine Hill Rd., Asheboro, in reference to larceny/theft in progress. The caller reported seeing subjects with a flashlight around the vehicle and items being taken from within that vehicle and being put into the vehicle they arrived in.
Upon arrival to the area, deputies located a vehicle matching the description given and conducted a traffic stop. While conducting the roadside investigation, the occupants were identified as Zackery Michael Cushman, Kenneth Gene Ellison, Jr. and Amanda Carol Stanley.
A deputy proceeded back to the area of where the vehicle in question was located. Upon further inspection of the vehicle, it was observed that the catalytic converter had been recently cut from same. The deputy proceeded back to the traffic stop location and the catalytic converter was in the bed of the truck along with jigsaws, all occupants were placed under arrest for the larceny and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause to issue charges of felony possession of stolen goods/property and felony larceny of a motor vehicle parts against all subjects. Cushman was issued a $15,000 secured bond, Ellison was issued a $25,000 secured bond and Stanley was issued a $10,000 secured bond. A first appearance was set for October 25, 2022, in Randolph County District Court.
Cushman was also issued a traffic citation for traffic related offenses.
