On October 29, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Brower Mill Rd., Seagrove, in reference to a welfare check for abnormal behavior. Upon arrival, a male subject, identified as Jeffery Chad Hoover, was located pacing around the living room. Fire and EMS responded. During a subsequent search, methamphetamine and paraphernalia were located. While attempting to place Hoover under arrest, he assaulted deputies on scene. He was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for the charge of felony possession of methamphetamine, two counts misdemeanor assault on a government official, misdemeanor resisting public officer, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. During the booking process, additional methamphetamine was located. Additional charges were sought and probable cause was found for felony possession of methamphetamine and felony possession of a controlled substance on jail premises. He received a $13,000 total secured bond and a court date was set for October 31, 2022, in Randolph County District Court.
