On October 30, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Lambeth Mill Rd., Siler City, in reference to a burglary in progress. Upon arrival, deputies found two victims of the burglary and subsequent assault. They reported that two subjects, known to them, had entered the residence with firearms and assaulted them. The Criminal Investigations Division arrived on scene to assist in the investigation. Chatham County Sheriff’s Office was notified to be on the lookout for the vehicle the perpetrators had left in. Randolph Communications was later advised that Chatham County deputies had located the vehicle and suspects, identified as Stephen Marcus Lopez and Dustin Ryan Stout. Randolph County Deputies responded to the address in Chatham County and took the suspects into custody.
Lopez and Stout were transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for charges of felony larceny of a firearm, felony possession of stolen firearm, felony robbery with dangerous weapon, and two counts misdemeanor assault by pointing a gun against Lopez. He was issued a $50,000 secured bond.
Probable cause was found for charges of felony robbery with dangerous weapon and two counts misdemeanor assault by pointing a gun against Stout. He was issued a $30,000 secured bond.
A first appearance was set for October 31, 2022, in Randolph County District Court for both subjects.
