On October 31, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Food Lion: 433 NC-49 S., Asheboro, to meet a victim regarding a report of domestic disturbance that had occurred on Mechanic Road, Asheboro. Deputies escorted the victim back to the residence. The assailant, Devante Martrez Deaton, had already left the residence. Deputies observed damage to the property.
Additional deputies located Deaton on Bingham Loflin Rd., Asheboro, where he was placed under arrest for outstanding processes and interviewed about this incident. He was then transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where he was served the three outstanding warrants for arrest and one outstanding order for arrest. The magistrate found probable cause for the offenses of Breaking and Entering with the Felony Intent to Terrorize and Misdemeanor Disorderly Conduct/Assault by show of Violence. During the booking process, methamphetamine was located. The magistrate found probable cause for the additional charges of Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance on Jail Premise, and Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was issued a total secured bond of $15,000 and a court date of November 1, 2022, in Randolph County District Court.
