On March 18, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Sex Offender Registry Detective received information from the Day Reporting Center (DRC) that Anthony Charles Linebaugh had not reported to DRC at all that week, which he was court ordered to do; an Order for Arrest was therefore issued. On March 21, 2022, the detective went to Linebaugh’s registered address but did not locate him. By sex offender registry law, Linebaugh must report any address change in person, by written notification, and within three business days of the change; therefore, this was a violation of Linebaugh's sex offender registry guidelines. A warrant for arrest for failure to report address change was issued.
After further investigation, the apprehension of Linebaugh was turned over to the US Marshals Sevice on May 25, 2022, as it appeared he had fled the state.
On October 13, 2022, Linebaugh was apprehended in Trumbull County, Ohio, on the Randolph County charges by the US Marshals Task Force. An extradition hearing was held on October 25, 2022, and he was extradited back and arrived at the Randolph County Detention Center on November 8, 2022, where he was then served the warrant out of Randolph County and two orders for arrest; felony failure to comply and misdemeanor assault on a female. He was also served an order for arrest out of Alamance County for failure to appear.
Linebaugh was issued a $153,000 total secured bond and a first appearance was set for November 9, 2022, in Randolph County District Court.
