On January 9, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Old Mendenhall Rd., Archdale, in reference to a vandalism-in progress. Upon arrival, the deputy observed a white male on a bike and what appeared to be another white male standing in the roadway. The male on the bike, who identified himself as John McGee, was detained. A search was conducted and Heroin was located. The other male fled the scene while detaining McGee but was identified by the victim.
The owner of the property advised that he did not believe anything was damaged at his property, but asked that the two be trespassed from the property. While enroute to the Randolph County Jail, McGee suffered a medical emergency and the deputy therefore called EMS to meet with the deputy roadside. Upon arrival, McGee refused medical treatment. McGee was then transported to the magistrate’s office where the magistrate found probable cause for the charge of felony possession of heroin and a first appearance was set for January 23, 2023, in Randolph County District Court. McGee was then released on a written promise to appear.
