On January 31, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to NC Hwy 42 S., Asheboro, in reference to a reported larceny. Upon arrival by the deputy, the victim reported he found someone had forcibly entered a building and stolen an item from within. The deputy learned that a neighbor had seen the suspect leaving the property riding a lawnmower and pulling a trailer and provided an address for the suspect. The deputy went to the address and made contact with the male subject, who identified himself to be Roger Lee Brown, Jr. During a subsequent search, the deputy located property matching the description of the item stolen. Brown was placed under arrest and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for charges of felony breaking and entering, felony larceny after breaking/entering, felony possession of stolen goods/property, misdemeanor injury to real property. The magistrate issued a $25,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for February 1, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
