On March 9, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Canoy Farm Rd., Ramseur in reference to larceny. Upon arrival, the complainant and the property owner advised items were missing from the residence and fencing on the property had been damaged. Items were last seen prior to the tenant, Neal Eugene Jenkins, vacating the residence and details of the fence damage were reported. Deputies discovered that Jenkins is a registered sex offender. The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Sex Offender Registry Detective was therefore notified that Jenkins was no longer was living at the registered address. A felony warrant was issued for his arrest for failure to report new address as required by law.
During the investigation, Criminal Investigations Detectives discovered Jenkins had recently sold the stolen items. Charges were sought and the magistrate found probable cause for the charges of Felony Obtain Property by False Pretense, Misdemeanor Larceny, and Misdemeanor Possession of Stolen Goods. He was also served with an outstanding Orders for Arrest for failure to appear. He was issued a $12,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for March 28, 2022, in Randolph County District Court.
