On February 8th, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office received a call in regards to a citizen locating human remains in the area of Shady Grove Church Rd., Staley. A citizen was walking in a wooded area when the remains were located. The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded and recovered the human remains along with identifying articles. The remains were then sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for identification.
On 2/14/2023, a positive identification was made by the State Medical Examiner’s Office and the human remains were confirmed to be those of Steven Tyler Tuttle. The cause of death is undetermined at this time and the case is still under investigation.
In June of 2021, Steven Tyler Tuttle, 32, was reported to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office as a missing person. Multiple locations were searched during this investigation but investigators were unable to locate Steven Tyler Tuttle based on the information provided.
Tuttle was reported missing on June 12, 2021. He was last seen on May 31, 2021, in the Hinshaw Country Rd. area of Liberty.
