On February 28, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Littles Drive, Franklinville, in regards to a reported burglary in progress. While enroute, Randolph Communications advised that the caller had left the property in a vehicle and reported that the suspect was now chasing the caller. Shortly thereafter, Communications advised that Randleman Police Department had conducted a traffic stop on both vehicles as they entered their jurisdiction. When deputies arrived to the traffic stops, the victim was observed to have a laceration. The victim advised that a Victor Emanuel Ruiz had broken into the residence, the location of the original call, and assaulted him and a female at the residence. Ruiz was then detained.
The female victim, who also had visible signs of an assault, arrived on scene and was interviewed. Following the investigation, Ruiz was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for charges of felony first degree burglary, felony assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, misdemeanor assault on a female, and misdemeanor injury to real property. Bond was denied for Ruiz due to being domestic in nature. A first appearance was set for February 28, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
