On May 10, 2021, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office took a report regarding an assault on a female and subsequent kidnapping. Following an investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division, charges were sought on Jason Edward Brown for three counts of felony second degree kidnapping, felony assault by strangulation, misdemeanor assault on a female, and misdemeanor domestic violence protective order violation. He was arrested on unrelated charges on June 16, 2021, and subsequently served with the related warrants. Brown was sentenced to prison on unrelated charges in October 2021 and released in October 2022.
During the February 2023 session of the Randolph County Grand Jury, a True Bill of Indictment was issued on Jason Edward Brown for three counts of felony second degree kidnapping, felony assault by strangulation, misdemeanor assault on a female, and misdemeanor domestic violence protective order violation in connection to the incident reported on May 10, 2021. The indictment was issued as a result of the investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division.
On March 3, 2023, the Criminal Apprehension Team arrested Brown at the Probation and Parole Office located at 1511 N. Fayetteville St. in Asheboro, NC. Brown was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center and taken before the magistrate, who issued a secured bond in the amount of $111,000 and set the next court date for March 6, 2023, in Randolph County Superior Court.
