On February 1, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on Prospect St., Archdale. Communications advised the driver, James Darrell Hall, had an outstanding warrant from Davidson County and a suspended driver's license for which Hall was issued a citation for driving while license revoked and placed under arrest for the outstanding warrant.
The front seat passenger was identified as Billy Lynn Smith. Upon his exit from the vehicle, paraphernalia was located where he had been seated. During a subsequent search, methamphetamine and paraphernalia were located in his possession and he was placed under arrest.
Both were transported to the Randolph County Detention Center.
During the booking process, Hall was found to be in possession of methamphetamine. He was taken before the magistrate, who found probable cause for the charges of felony possession of methamphetamine, felony possession of a controlled substance on jail premises, and misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia. He was also served the Davidson County outstanding warrant for misdemeanor assault on a female and, misdemeanor communicating threats. He was issued an $8,000 total secured bond and a first appearance was set for March 13, 2023.
The magistrate found probable cause for charges against Smith for felony possession of methamphetamines and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $1,000 secured and his first appearance was set for March 13, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
