On March 13, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office observed a male, that appeared unconscious in the driver’s seat of a vehicle parked at the edge of the parking lot of the AJ Minimart on US Highway 64 W., Asheboro, and checked his welfare. Once the driver was awakened, he was identified as Michael Shane Wray. During a subsequent search, methamphetamine, cocaine, and drug paraphernalia were located. Wray was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate found probable cause for the charge of felony possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver schedule II controlled substance, felony possession of cocaine, misdemeanor possession of a schedule IV controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. He was issued a $100,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for March 14, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
