On March 10, 2023, a Randolph County Sheriff’s Office observed a driver acting suspiciously in the area of Foxfire Rd., Asheboro. While following the vehicle, the deputy observed something black in color thrown out the window of the vehicle. The deputy subsequently conducted a traffic stop; the driver was identified as Charlene Lynch Powell.
After clearing the traffic stop, the deputy located what was believed to be the item thrown from the window of the vehicle, including drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine.
Charges were sought against Powell for felony possession of methamphetamine, felony possession with intent to manufacture/sell/distribute methamphetamine, misdemeanor littering, and misdemeanor possession drug paraphernalia and the magistrate found probable cause to issue the warrant.
Powell was located, arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where she was served the warrant and issued a $20,000 secured bond. A first appearance was set for March 17, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
