On March 20, 2023, a Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Deputy observed a vehicle that matched the description of a suspect vehicle in a recent larceny investigation and conducted a traffic stop in the area of Kennedy Rd., Trinity. Upon approach to the driver’s side, the deputy recognized the driver as the same suspect in that incident. She initially gave a false name but was later identified as Shavon Melissa Kennedy. She was placed under arrest for various outstanding processes including an out of county felony probation violation. During a subsequent search of the vehicle, paraphernalia, a stolen driver’s license and a stolen credit card were located. Kennedy was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where she was served her outstanding processes and the magistrate found probable cause for the charges of felony identity theft, misdemeanor resisting public officer, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, no liability insurance, and no operator’s license.
The magistrate also found probable cause for charges in the larceny of the driver’s license and credit card from an incident reported on February 7, 2023, based on evidence provided. Charges were issued and served on Kennedy for felony larceny and felony possession of stolen goods related to that incident.
Kennedy received a total secured bond of $56,000 and a first appearance was set for March 21, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
