On March 29, 2022, at around 10:00 p.m., the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Reddy Foxx Ln., Thomasville, in reference to a stabbing call. Upon arrival, deputies located a man on the porch of the residence with stab wounds. The victim, later identified as Randy Hunt, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The resident, Fred Thomas Dyles, Jr., who was also the reporting person, identified the decedent as his neighbor. Dyles reported that Hunt had attempted to break into his home and he therefore stabbed Hunt.
Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to the scene to collect evidence and conduct interviews. Upon conclusion of the crime scene investigation, Detectives sought a warrant on Dyles for Second Degree Murder. Dyles was taken before the magistrate who issued a $20,000.00 secured bond and scheduled a court appearance for March 30, 2022 in Randolph County District Court.
