On March 21, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Hilltop Dr., Archdale Rd., in reference to a burglary that had already occurred. Upon arrival, a company that had been contracted to work on the residence reported they arrived and observed the residence had been entered and contacted the victim. The victim’s representative arrived shortly after the deputies. It was also determined that an outbuilding had been broken into. Crimes Scene Investigations responded to collect evidence.
A search warrant was obtained based on information from the investigation. On March 24, 2023, it was executed at a residence on Huff Rd., Thomasville, and deputies located items identified belonging to the victim. Charges were sought and the magistrate found probable cause to issue a warrant for Charles Paul Thompson for two counts felony breaking & entering, felony larceny of firearm, felony possession stolen firearm, felony larceny after breaking & entering, felony possession stolen goods/ prop., misdemeanor possession stolen goods/prop., & misdemeanor larceny.
On March 31, 2023, the Criminal Apprehension Team apprehended Thompson at Huff Rd. Thomasville, NC. He was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where he was served the outstanding warrant and three additional outstanding orders for arrest for failure to appear (1-Randolph County and 2 -Guilford County). The magistrate issued a $101,000 secured bond and two $100 cash bonds. A first appearance was set April 3, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
