On March 31, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Team responded to Jimmy Cox Rd., Bennett, in reference to a breaking and entering in progress and the victim was unsure if the suspect was still on scene at that time. Upon arrival, the property was cleared and an investigation began. Video surveillance was obtained of the suspect entering and leaving the residence, taking items, and provided the NC Registration Plate information.
The gate to the property had been removed and ran over.
Following the investigation, the suspect was identified as Seth Winfred Cox, and charges were sought. The magistrate found probable cause and issued a warrant for felony breaking and entering, felony larceny after breaking and entering, and misdemeanor injury to real property.
On April 3, 2023, Cox was located, arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where he was served the outstanding warrant. He was issued a $10,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for April 4, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
