On April 4, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded US Hwy 64 E., Asheboro, in reference to trespassing. Upon arrival, the caller reported that the male subject had left walking and provided a photo of the subject. During a search of the area, deputies located the subject on Bob Kivett Rd. He was identified as James Joshua Thompson, who had an active order for arrest out of Randolph County he was therefore arrested. During a subsequent search, he was found to be in possession of Methamphetamine. He was transported to the magistrate’s office where he was served the outstanding order and the magistrate found probable cause for the charges of felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor possession drug paraphernalia. He was issued a $50,000 total secured bond. A first appearance was set for April 5, 2023, in Randolph County District Court. He was then transported to the Randolph County Detention Center and turned over to Detention Officers for processing.
