On April 11, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Waynick Meadow Rd., Asheboro, in reference a residential fire. Upon arrival, area fire departments were on scene and the fire had been contained. Deputies had responded to two earlier calls at the same residence for arguments between persons living at the address. One resident advised that she was inside when she heard someone beating on the outside of the residence and shouting that it was on fire. Statements were collected from each person on scene. The Fire Marshal’s Office, Crime Scene Investigators and Criminal Investigations Detectives responded to investigate further.
Following the investigation, Paula Lee Garner Faucette was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for the charges of felony first degree arson. She was issued a $100,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for March 12, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
