On April 21, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Koonce Dr., Trinity, in reference to an armed person call. Upon arrival, the victim reported during a familial dispute, the assailant, Jeremy Wayne Steffey shot into the ground beside him and threatened to harm him. Upon further investigation, deputies located evidence to support the allegations and discovered Steffey is a convicted felon. Steffey was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for charges of felony possession of a firearm by a felon and misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon. The magistrate issued a $65,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for April 24, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
