On April 29, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Zelma Blvd., Archdale, in reference to a burglary in progress. Upon arrival, four suspects were located inside the residence and detained. During the investigation, it was determined that the property owner had deemed the property unlivable, were in the process of removing the home, and advised no one should be in the home. Mary Lucas Rendle was found to be in possession of schedule I controlled substance and paraphernalia. All four suspects were arrested for misdemeanor breaking and entering and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center. During the booking process Johnny Johnson Crouch was found to be in possession of a schedule I controlled substance on jail property. They were charged as follows:
Brandon Lee Grimmett and Chris Broughton were both charged with misdemeanor breaking and entering and both received $1,000 for their charge.
Mary Lucas Rendle was charged with felony possession of schedule I controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor breaking and entering. She received a $2,000 securd bond.
Johnny Johnson Crouch was charged with felony possession of schedule I controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor breaking and entering, and felony possession of controlled substance on jail property. He received a $3,000 secured bond for his charges.
A first appearance was set for May 1, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
