On April 25, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Braxton Culler on US Highway 311 in Sophia, regarding a former employee, Michael Dwayne Davis, who had charged made unauthorized charges to the company's account at an area business on 04/13/2023 and on 04/15/2023. The company discovered the transactions and contacted the area business who were able to provide a copy of both transactions and also images from the business's surveillance footage of Davis in the business, completing the two transactions.
Following the investigation, a warrant was sought against Davis for two counts of obtaining property by false pretense and the magistrate found probable cause.
On May 5, 2023, Davis was arrested at 176 E. Salisbury St., Asheboro where he was served his warrant. The magistrate issued a $5,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for May 8, 2023, in Randolph County District Court. He was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center for processing.
