On March 28, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Level Cross area in reference to a vehicle theft that had occurred on March 26, 2022, between 7:00 and 7:30 pm. The victim reported her vehicle had overheated earlier and had called for assistance from Donivan Cequan Brower, who is known by the victim. They were able to get the vehicle moving again and proceeded south on I73/74 when it overheated again at the Level Cross exit. After the vehicle had cooled off, Brower entered the vehicle, started it and drove it away leaving the victim stranded on the off ramp. The victim stated that she had been unable to make contact with Brower and stated at no time did she give him permission to drive the vehicle. Deputies sought charges with the magistrate against Brower for Larceny of a Motor Vehicle. Brower had additional active warrants for his arrest for Assault on a Female, Misdemeanor Larceny, Misdemeanor Possession of Stolen Goods/Property.
On March 31, 2022, Brower was located in the jurisdiction of Asheboro Police Department, arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where he was served his outstanding warrants. He was issued a $5,000 secured bond and a court date was set for April 1, 2022, in Randolph County District Court.
