On June 10, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Fox Country Rd., Randleman, in reference to a reported larceny/theft that had occurred on June 6, 2023. Upon arrival, the victim explained that he had been out of town when a neighbor had notified him that someone had been on his property. The victim provided a list of items that had been stolen and evidence was collected. In the video obtained, a white male was seen loading the property into the back of a white vehicle. After reviewing the video footage, deputies were able to confirm the identity of the male as Billy Ernest Jones.
Deputies located Jones, who was arrested for felony breaking and or entering, felony larceny after breaking and/or entering, misdemeanor larceny and misdemeanor second-degree trespassing. He was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate found probable cause for the charges. Jones was issued a $25,000 secured bond with a first appearance set for June 12, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
During further investigation, deputies located one of the items that had been stolen and returned it to the victim.
