On June 14, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to NC Hwy 62, Trinity, in reference to a burglary in progress. Upon arrival, the deputy observed a female, later identified as Jessica Nicole Lowery, standing in the doorway holding a dog. The victims reported Lowery was stealing the family dog. Lowery was detained during the investigation.
The victims stated that the female, who was known by the family, had walked into the home while they were asleep, asking if anyone was home and seemingly in a deranged state. She then picked up the family dog and walked out the front door.
Following the investigation, Lowery was placed under arrest and trespassed from the address. She was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate found probable cause for felony break or enter, felony larceny after break or enter, and felony larceny of a dog. She was issued a $5,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for June 15, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
The dog was returned to the family.
