On July 13, 2023, while on routine patrol, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office observed an unattended truck with a landscaping trailer attached to it in the parking lot of Randleman Middle School. Deputies learned that the tag on the landscape trailer had been reported stolen out of Davidson County. A criminal summons was issued charging Landon Keith McDaniel with possession of stolen goods. McDaniel was served the criminal summons on July 17, 2023. A court date was set for August 17, 2023.
On July 14, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Electronic House Arrest Division Officers observed multiple unauthorized leaves by Landon Keith McDaniel. Upon further investigation, one of the locations he had been was to the victim's house in his case. In McDaniel's conditions of release, he was not to have contact with the victim. McDaniel was located at his residence on W. Academy St., Randleman, and transported to the office, where he refused a drug screen. He was placed under arrest for unauthorized leaves and refusing to submit to a drug screen. He was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate found probable cause for the charges, and he was given a $100,000 secured bond with continued conditions of EHA.
McDaniel was placed on EHA on April 18, 2023, for felony assault by strangulation, felony intimidating a witness, felony breaking and or entering, misdemeanor injury to personal property, and misdemeanor assault on a female. His first violation was on May 4, 2023, for testing positive for methamphetamine on a drug screen.
A court date was set for July 17, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
