On April 19, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Sex Offender Registry Detective conducting a sex offender compliance check in collaboration with the US Marshall’s Office and NC Probation and Parole, made contact with Mark Lee Greenfield. During a subsequent search of his residence by probation officers, Methamphetamine and paraphernalia were located. Greenfield’s electronic devices were seized for further investigation.
He was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for felony possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Greenfield received a $2,500 secured bond and was given a court date of April 21, 2023.
During the preliminary search on the cell phones, online identifiers were located that Greenfield had not registered with the Sheriff's Office. Additional online identifiers were also located, which Greenfield had not registered with the Sheriff's Office Sex Offender Registry Detective. A warrant was sought for eight counts of failing to register new online identifiers. The magistrate found probable cause and issued the warrant for arrest.
On July 18, 2023, Greenfield was transported from Harnett Correctional Institution, where he had been serving time for the probation violation incurred on April 19, 2023, to the Randolph County Detention Center, where he was brought before the magistrate and served the warrant. He was issued a $160,000 secured bond with Electronic House Arrest. A first appearance for July 19, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
