On August 9, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Monroe Ave., Asheboro, in reference to serving a warrant. Upon arrival, deputies could hear what sound like and male and female arguing behind the house. When deputies rounded the corner of the residence, they observed David Benjamin Turner, the wanted subject, who ran to his vehicle ignoring commands and drove through the yard and fled the scene. Deputies pursued Turner and additional deputies converged on the area in which they were heading and were able to deploy a tire deflation device on Pisgah Covered Bridge Rd. as Turner was approaching, Turner came to a complete stop when he saw the device on the roadway and attempted to drive around same. The deputy redeployed the spike strips under the vehicle causing Turner to come to a complete stop again. Turner was ordered out of the vehicle and complied with commands. He was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for misdemeanor flee/elude arrest w/ motor vehicle, misdemeanor possession marijuana up to 1/2 OZ, misdemeanor possession drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor failure to heed light or siren, failure to stop at stop sign. He was also served the original outstanding felony probation violation which they were attempting to serve. He was issued a $2,500 secured bond. A first appearance was set for August 10, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
