On August 15, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Team was conducting a Checkpoint in the area of Old Lexington Rd. and Charlotte Church Rd. in Asheboro. As a vehicle approached officers, an odor of marijuana was detected emitting from within. A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted where a felonious amount of marijuana and a concealed firearm was located and seized. The driver of the vehicle, Hector Antonio Jaimes, was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for the charges of Felony Possession of Marijuana, Felony Possession With Intent to Sell / Deliver Marijuana, Felony Maintain a Vehicle / Dwelling / Place for Controlled Substance, Misdemeanor Possess Marijuana Paraphernalia, and Misdemeanor Carrying Concealed Weapon. He received a $25,000 secured bond plus Electronic House Arrest with a first appearance set for August 16, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
