On Sunday, August 20, 2023, at around 2:00 pm, multiple deputies of the Randolph County Sheriff's Office responded to Bantam Rd. in reference to a report of a missing person. Initial information gathered was an 81-year-old male with cognitive impairment and physical disabilities left on foot from his home between 6:00 am and 12:00 pm. The male's home was completely encompassed with thick, dense foliage and agricultural land. A multi-agency search and rescue effort was launched, and the male was subsequently located by members of Sheriff's Office D.A.R.T. (Disaster Assistance Response Team) and turned over to Randolph County EMS for evaluation.
