On September 18, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Howard Mill Rd., Bennett, in reference to a reported assault. Upon arrival at the incident location, in the 7200 block of Howard Mill Rd., deputies located the victim with a gunshot wound. The suspect, Aaron Bryant Williams, was located by law enforcement in the 7100 block of Howard Mill Rd. while he was still on the phone with Telecommunicators.
Following the initial investigation, Williams was detained and transported to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office for further questioning. Williams was subsequently arrested, then transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for charges of felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. He was issued a $250,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for September 19, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
