On February 27, 2026, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to a welfare check call on US Hwy 220 S. Upon arrival, deputies located an unconscious male subject inside a vehicle with the engine still running. Deputies were able to wake him. He was identified as Justin Curtis Pugh, a convicted felon. Upon exiting the vehicle, a firearm was located on him. Fire and EMS conducted a medical evaluation and transported him to an area hospital for further care. During a subsequent search, paraphernalia was located.
Charges were sought against Pugh for felony possession of firearm by felon, felony carrying a concealed gun, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. The magistrate found probable cause for the charges and issued a warrant for arrest.
On March 3, 2026, Pugh was located by the Criminal Apprehension Team, arrested, and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where he was served his warrant and issued no bond. A first appearance was scheduled for March 4, 2026, in Randolph County District Court.
