On March 3, 2026, deputies with the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Cedar Square Road in reference to a reported family fight.
Upon officers' arrival, they made contact with a male occupant who had a bleeding laceration to his hand. The individual declined medical assistance. A report was completed for documentation.
On March 4, 2026, at approximately 12:56 a.m., deputies responded to a separate call regarding a stabbing victim who had sought medical treatment. The victim reported having an altercation with his roommate and sustained a laceration to the hand.
Following the investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division, charges were sought against Santiago Perez Espana for felony assault with a deadly weapon, inflicting serious injury. Espana was presented to the magistrate at the Randolph County Detention Center, who found probable cause for the charges and issued no bond.
Espana’s first appearance was set for March 4, 2026, in Randolph County District Court.
