Sheriff's Office Significant Arrests Posted on March 05, 2026

On March 3, 2026, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Team Urban Unit was sitting stationary near Thompson Rd. Ext., Archdale, when a motorcycle passed by, without displaying a registration plate. Detectives attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Prospect St. The driver of the motorcycle failed to stop, and a pursuit ensued. The motorcycle later came to a rest off of Hwy 109, and the driver was identified as Matthew David Floyd. After further investigation, it was discovered that the motorcycle was confirmed stolen out of Greensboro.  

Floyd was placed into custody and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate found probable cause for felony possession of stolen motor vehicle, felony flee/elude arrest with motor vehicle, misdemeanor DWLR not impaired revoked, misdemeanor no liability insurance, misdemeanor no motorcycle endorsement, misdemeanor drive/allow registration plate not display, drive left of center, fail to stop-steady red light, and fail to yield stop sign/flash red light. Floyd received a $60,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for March 4, 2026, in Randolph County District Court. Floyd was also served with an Order for Arrest out of Guilford County and was issued an additional $2,500 secured bond with a court date scheduled for March 6, 2026, in Guilford County District Court.
