On May 1, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to an address on Georgia Dr., Randleman, in reference to a residential house fire. Following an investigation by the Randolph County Fire Marshall’s Office and the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, the fire was classified as an arson.
Darren Shane Hyatt was identified as the person responsible for setting fire to the residence, and charges were sought for felony first-degree arson. The magistrate found probable cause and issued a warrant for arrest.
On January 23, 2026, Hyatt turned himself in at the Randolph County Detention Center, where he was served his warrant. Hyatt was held without bond, and a first appearance was set for January 26, 2026, in Randolph County District Court.
