Building Inspections
The Randolph County Building Inspections Department is a service agency of county government. The Inspections Department is responsible for the issuance of permits, inspection of work done by all building trades, and enforcement of the North Carolina State Building Codes and the Randolph County Unified Development Ordinance (PDF).
The Randolph County Building Inspections Department performs inspections on building construction, electrical, plumbing, HVAC (heating and cooling), and insulation. Additionally, modular and mobile home setup inspections are performed, as well as compliance with Randolph County addressing requirements.
In addition to the issuance of permits and the performance of inspections in the unincorporated areas of Randolph County, the Inspections Department also provides these services for the municipalities of Archdale, Franklinville, Liberty, Ramseur, Randleman, Seagrove, Staley, and Trinity.
The Inspections Department also performs construction plan reviews and schedules inspection requests, releases utilities such as electrical and gas, and issues certificates of occupancy.

Permit Number Changes
Due to the changes to the current Randolph County Permitting System, on May 1, 2021 the numbering system for all construction permits will change to allow for each permit issued for construction to have its own individual permit number. This will result in the Building, Electrical, Mechanical and Plumbing permits having its own individual numbers. The numbering sequence will remain as (e.g. 2021-00001234) as permits now. Only each trade will have its own individual number.
Example
- Building Permit Number 2021-00001234
- Electrical Permit Number 2021-00005678
- Mechanical Permit Number 2021-00009876
- Plumbing Permit Number 2021-00005432
As always, it is imperative that when scheduling inspections you include the type of inspections and the permit number. This will ensure no inspection request will go unanswered.
In addition, if you have not set up an account on the Inspections ePermits Online Permitting Site now would be a good time to do so. You can apply and pay for permits as well as schedule inspections from your online portal. To get setup please contact the Inspections Office at 336-318-6595 or use the link below.
